Belfast

Belfast

Belfast was the first settlement on the island. It was founded by pirates-turned-adventurers who need a base of operations while they plundered the island. It is unclear as to why, but it was rediscovered by merchants a few years later, and Belfast was completely deserted. None of the bodies could be found, along with any items of significant value. The merchant crews resettled Belfast, and built wooden walls to keep out whatever dangers lurked in the dark. A few months later a native people whose name is now lost was discovered on the island. They spoke a strange language and seemed to be frightful and uneasy. The skiddish people were spotted by settlers with cutlasses and boots, most likely from the pirates. When they were confronted about this, the natives became defensive and started to hack and shout wildly. The settlers, fearing for their lives, gathered and sought out the dangerous natives and slaughtered them. When the chieftan was cornered with his bodyguards, he spoke only the word “Avandinslec” and threw down his fists, exploding in a deadly green cloud that engulfed him and his last few men. Their bodies were never found.

Belfast quickly rebuilt the walls, this time with stone and iron mines from the Ridgeback Mountains, and they continue to stand to this day. Belfast was never again in any danger. However, it was soon filled with pirates and characters of a less than savory nature, and the town became little more than a “brothel bay” with nothing but inns, bars, and brothels. When the Tigle trade began, more businessmen, crafters, and nobles came to the island and transformed it into a more respectable town, but the bars and inns still remained around the docks.

It served an important role in the Final War as a shipyard and naval base, but is now a predominately human settlement, with a nobleman as the ruling lord. The guards have been increased in response to the orc threat, and so Belfast is not as free as it once was.
